In late 2020, Cineplex would open a new concept called “Junxion”, which combines a movie theatre with an entertainment centre (a la The Rec Room). It will also have a food hall and even an outdoor patio on the roof. This will open in Erin Mills Town Centre’s former Sears space and will expand to other locations in the future (such as Kildonan Place in Winnipeg). At least Cineplex is making a new theatre for Mississauga.
The final movies presented at this theatre in May 1st were:
-3 Days to Kill
-Bad Words
-Oculus
-The Grand Budapest Hotel (UltraAVX)
-The Raid 2: Beranda
-Trailer Park Boys: Don’t Legalize It
The name should be changed to SilverCity Mission Cinemas. Also, many of the first-run attractions are also playing at Cineplex Odeon Meadowtown nearby.
I recently took a little urban exploration trip to this theatre and only took so many photos. This was due to many alarms being triggered already, which made me anxious to go further as I fear that I’d get arrested. The main lobby with concessions remained as it was in 2011 when AMC split the theatre into 13 from 30. Also, the “30 Theatres” portion of the sign was removed as of 2019.
As a little irony, Cineplex has been treating their theatre across the highway like trash, as if they’re waiting to develop a new smaller theatre in a new Vaughan development.

Theatre opened on December 18, 1998 (same day as AMC Kennedy Commons and Cineplex Odeon First Markham Place), and was taken over by Cineplex in 2012.
I recently visited Varsity, and the posters were changed to digital and the THX Certification was gone as well.
The name should be changed to Cinéma StarCité Gatineau
The name should be changed to Cinéma Cineplex Laval
The name should be changed to Cineplex Cinemas Ancaster

Should be renamed to Cinéma Cineplex Forum.
The name should be changed to SilverCity Mission Cinemas. Also, many of the first-run attractions are also playing at Cineplex Odeon Meadowtown nearby.
The name should be changed to SilverCity Riverport Cinemas.
The name should be changed to SilverCity Victoria Cinemas. There’s no need for that space in between “Silver” and “City”.
The name should be changed to Cineplex Cinemas Metropolis.
Name should be changed to Cineplex Cinemas Varsity and VIP
SilverCity signage replaced with Cineplex Cinemas signage as of 2019.
The letters on the vertical Cineplex sign outside were mysteriously removed. Is it possible that Cineplex would renovate this theatre further?
As of 2019, one of the auditoriums is now a 4DX auditorium. They retrofitted one of the smaller theatres with moving seats and special effects.
Acquired by Cineplex in 2019, and is now known as The Beach Cinemas.
Acquired by Cineplex in the 2010s, but was closed in 2018 when Cineplex opened the North Barrie cinemas nearby.
As far as I can tell, this is the only Scotiabank Theatre to NOT have an IMAX. I get that it’s 9 screens, but seriously?
It should display closed now, as this theatre was closed in 2018 to make way for a new Playdium which opened in 2019.

AMC, what have you’ve done.
It actually opened on December 25, 1997 (the day when Disney’s “Mr. Magoo” opened in theatres)
