Fun Vacations Focus of Cascade Theatre Sweepstakes
NEW CASTLE, PA — The Board of Trustees of the non-profit Warner Film Center have announced the start of sales of 1,000 Sweepstakes-raffle tickets to the public.
Three major prizes are included in the raffle to be held on July 1, 2 and 3, 2013.

Seeking thoughts on a theater membership concept
Hello,
My name is Jordan McLaughlin. I’ve been brainstorming on a new concept to try and help privately owned and historic cinemas to sustain and/or improve attendance and profitability. I’d love for your feedback to see if it’s something they’d be interested in me pursuing further.
The general concept is a membership for both patrons and exhibitors where discounts are provided to the patrons and specific admittance restrictions for the theaters. The membership for both being exclusive to one another. Meaning, the patron membership gets them access to a variety of historic and privately owned cinema’s country wide at a discounted admission, and the theaters are allowed to govern the admission restrictions on-the-fly*.
This is how I’ve sort of envision it working.

Disney, cinema operators resolve ticket dispute
Apparently, major movie chains felt like they had dealt with enough extra costs courtesy of the studios when they pulled sales of “Iron Man 3” last week due to demand from Disney for an increased revenue share. An agreement has been reach but the details have not been disclosed.

Looking for theater to renovate in Northern Michigan

I’m looking for an old theater in Michigan to buy and renovate. I prefer northern Michigan. While I have not owned a theater before, I have owned many businesses (including rebuilt ones) such as restaurants and bars. I’m open to all prices under 400K.

Flick - A month long Celebration of Film and NJ Filmmakers at Count Basie Theatre
RED BANK, NJ — Count Basie Theatre staff announced its 2013 annual gala called “flick” a month-long celebration of Film and the New Jersey film industry that will kick-off May 14 with a free screening of the documentary film “Sound City” and culminate with a gala celebration and concert on June 14 with 6-time Grammy award and 2-time Academy award winner Randy Newman.
There will be several “flick” events in between including a curated Q and A “actor’s studio” type of evening with Joe Pantoliano “Joey Pants” on June 6 curated by John Bathke. Proceeds of the “flick” gala will help upgrade the Basie with digital and satellite technology. “The Count Basie Theatre has a rich history of film since its inception,” said CEO Adam Philipson, “this event will honor the contributions of film and filmmakers in the State – from directors to grips – and help move us into the 21st Century.” For more information contact Shannon Eadon Director of Development at 732-224-8778 ext. 128.

Urban Outfitters revamping DTLA’s historic Rialto Theatre
LOS ANGELES, CA — One of the most famous marquees on Broadway is going to have something to celebrate with the opening of an Urban Outfitters in the former Rialto Theatre. The store will open by the end of the year in the theatre space gutted long ago but they’ll maintain the marquee and feature some designs in the space as a homage.

Hayden theater turning lights off
HAYDEN, ID — The Hayden Cinema 6 has closed after 15 years in business. No specific reason was given but an inability to convert to digital seems likely.
