Planning a trip to the movies? Here’s an incredible collection of theatres around the world, from historic gems like the Winter Garden in Toronto to more creative and contemporary cinema experiences, like the Floating Archipelago Cinema in Thailand.

The Archipelago Cinema in Thailand cinema is dwarfed by the magnificent environment of the Nai Pi Lae lagoon that surrounds it. Every year, to celebrate the Film on the Rocks festival, a few lucky people are taken to the awe-inspiring raft by boat. You probably won’t be paying much attention to the screen if you get in.

The walls of the magnificent Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto, Canada, are covered in masterfully hand-painted water-colors, while the ceilings are littered with lanterns and dried beech leaves. Built in 1913, the Winter Garden was one of the first places to show silent movies in the entire city and to this day remains a masterpiece of cinema.

And just for a bit of fun, the next time you are in London try the Hot Tub Cinema. Enjoy a show with a view on this London rooftop, where seats are replaced with hot tubs.

The Tuschinski, in Amsterdam, is considered one of the most beautiful cinemas in the world. with multiple grand balconies, a Gothic exterior and incredible ceilings.
