That already endangered-species, the drive-in, further threatened by costs of going digital

The Daily Herald looked at the grim future for drive-ins across the country with the cost of digital conversion. Some are making the jump and hoping they’ll get their money while others are pursuing financing or closing up shop. While theaters around the world struggle, this already vulnerable sector is really feeling the pressure.

The studios/distributors still will be making 35mm prints for foreign distribution.

The Boulevard Drive-In in Kansas City Kansas made the switch to digital last year and they are going as strong as ever!
