Trio floats plan to reopen MET Cinema

OAKHURST, CA — Despite closing last month, there’s a loyal fanbase trying to save the MET Cinema. Three childhood friends have created a website and a membership program so the theatre can reopen and become a local entertainment center.

Hmmm…they want to offer subscriptions where you pay one monthly price and you get to see as many of movies you want…or all of them! They say it’s “just like Netflix”! I’d be surprised if the distributors would go for that. Good luck anyway guys! The MET Cinema’s closing leaves the whole Oakhurst-Mariposa area without a cinema so anyway you can open up the MET again I’m all for it! Not a good sign that the previous owner was losing money big time though!
Actually, the plan seems to a local version of a fairly new progam called MoviePass that allows a person to see one movie a day for a fixed fee on a 30, 90, or one-year basis, the difference is that Movie Pass is valid at many theaters, whereas this plan would be only valid at the MET.
