SAN DIEGO, CA — After gradually opening more locations in the Los Angeles area, ArcLight Cinemas is creating its first venture in San Diego. The new theatre in the Westfield UTC mall will open at the end of next year.

But do they use Carbon ARC projectors.lol.
This is great news for San Diego!
I really enjoy seeing movies at the ArcLight when I’m up in LA, so it will be nice to have that same experience at home now too.
In general, the northern part of San Diego doesn’t have enough megaplex theaters. So that means most people in the La Jolla and UTC neighborhoods have to drive all the way over to the Edwards Mira Mesa to watch movies on truly big screens.
So this is very welcome news.
Looks like another shoe box type of multi cinema. With 14 screens and only 1,800 seats total. Hope they have two giant curved screens with at least 550 seats each. The others they can do the tiny 125 seats. I’d be nice if the Pacific Forman brothers put in some curtains that open and close in the large cinemas and bring back some showmwnship to the San Diego area like their dad had many years ago.
Two giant curved screens with 550 seats each would put the rest of the auditoriums at 58 seats each. Not happening. Even Hollywood, which has around double that seating capacity, maxes out at 430 for the big screens.
Please arc light come to new york!!!
