Are major chains diminishing the quality of 2D presentations by leaving 3D lenses on their projectors?

The online publication CinemaSpy, along with a considerable number of other online sources, is reporting that a number of major cinema chains are allowing inferior 2D presentations to occur regularly by not removing the 3D lenses from their projectors. Leaving the 3D lenses on the Sony digital projectors used by many of major exhibitors results in considerably dimmer image. Shame, shame, shame. No wonder my neighborhood Regal’s DP movies are so dark. I thought it was a tech issue.
With Regal it doesn’t surprize me,heck today it is all about running them in and out glad i got in 1983 when the theatre business was starting to change,sadly for the worse.Jodar it is a Money issue.
It’s more a tech issue than a money issue, but it’s even more a time issue and a laziness issue. It takes an hour to an hour and a half to properly swap out the 3D lens for the 2D lens and to recalibrate the machine. Without knowing too much about the layouts of the theatres or what kind of seating or projection system each auditorium has, it’s still not that hard to ensure one is offering the best presentation in each auditorium every day.
