An early morning fire in a 5th floor mechanical room of the Fox Theatre has caused cancellation of two performances of “The Jersey Boys”. A restoration team was brought in immediately to remove smokle and clean up so that the theatre would be ready to re-open for Tuesday nights performance of “The Jersey Boys”.

as with older buildings in NYC i can’t help but wonder if
the fire was a “business fire” as they are called.. many times
even if an older building is in perfectly good shape the land
the theater is on is even more valuable than the historical and
or architectural aspect of the building.
I believe the St. Louis Fox Theatre operates in the black, so I wouldn’t think the fire to be suspicious. It is much loved by both the owners and the public.
I would think that the only real threat to the continued viability and financial health of the Fox will be the completion of the renovations to the Kiel Opera House which will be renamed the Peabody Opera House when it reopens, especially if the Broadway series of touring shows were to relocate there.
