Theatre candy supplier info needed

posted by Dumke on March 4, 2010 at 7:34 am

I am operating a two screen first run movie theater in the Midwest. I am looking for wholesale candy suppliers. Currently I am purchasing candy at retail and reselling. There must be suppliers out there. Anyone have any names of companies?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best Regards,
Katie

Out west we use Vistar/VSA or Sysco. Check them out.

Try your local Food Service Suppliers (like SYSCO)

When I was managing a theatre in Iowa my supplier was Farner-Brocken in Iowa. Good prices and service. You can reach them here: http://mrc.farner-bocken.com/fbpublic/

And if you are near one, what about a warehouse store such as Sam’s or Costco? Concessionaires and food service operators buy in bulk from them,

Katie,

I too actually am operating two first run theaters in the midwest as well so I can speak to this in the same experience.

Your options are pretty much Vistar (who sucks) and Continental Concessions ccsicandy.com. Vistar sells to more theatres, and they have the arrogance that goes along with that. They will offer you a maximum net7 (7 day to pay) credit account your first year, which if you are ever one day late on that you then get put on c.o.d., with high order minimums and have the rudest accounts payable people in the world. Net 7 pay still puts you in the position of rushing a check, whats the point?

I’m in the process now of switching out my locations to Continental. Better prices, the same great options, more actually especially on supplies too, and much better pay terms (net 30) and a much better customer service attitude. I highly encourage you to do the same!

Thanks to all who replied. I actually had a sales person from Vistar leave his card at the theatre right after I posted the information on Cinema Treasures. He seemed like a good guy on the phone. Will see how it goes. I can always keep doing what I am currently.
Thank you again,
