Bad cinema architecture

We often see and read about countless beautiful movie “palaces” in all their splendor and glory.
But how about everyone’s thoughts on the “Ugliest Looking Cinemas”?
Hailing from England, I smile to myself when viewing some of these old (Dracula’s Castle) looking wrecks that have closed. I’m not at all surprised.

When the Oriental in Chicago opened there was a fair amount of discussion regarding the design.
An ugly one- Cinema Le Paris in Valleyfield,qc at http://www.cinematour.com/tour.php?db=ca&id=1642 It looks like a poor rip off of the 1970’s AMC shoeboxes.
Speaking of which…it doesn’t look like the old AMC in Rockaway, which was quite large for a shoebox theater that didn’t have the glitz and glamour of the larger successor (of course I mean the outer 6).
I think that the Waltham Cinemas 1 & 2 was pretty ugly, both inside and out, architecturally speaking. Just my two cents.

I know I’m somewhat late in responding to your post, Simon Overton, but the Waltham Cinemas 1 & 2
complex was located in the Route 128/Winter Street area, pretty much just off of Route 128.
