NEW YORK, NY — Bow Tie Cinemas (Charles B. Moss, Jr. and Ben Moss, Owners) has appointed veteran film executive Spencer Klein as its Chief Film Officer. Effective April 7, 2008, Klein will be responsible for booking all films and alternative content exhibited throughout Bow Tie’s broad network encompassing 138 screens in 17 locations in Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, New York, and Virginia. In addition to his film responsibilities, Klein will participate in evaluating new theatre locations, potential acquisitions, digital and 3D projects, as well as theatrical marketing opportunities.

Prior to joining Bow Tie Cinemas, Spencer Klein was Senior Vice President and General Sales Manager of Domestic Distribution for The Weinstein Company (TWC), where he was responsible for overseeing the domestic sales for TWC, the genre label Dimension Films, the recently formed Third Rail Releasing, and TWC’s research screenings.

Klein began his film industry career working in distribution at New Line Cinema and New Yorker Films. He subsequently became a film buyer at Loews Cineplex Entertainment for six years, where he was responsible for acquiring films for Loews theaters throughout various territories across the nation. Klein joined TWC as Vice President of Sales, Eastern Division when the company launched in October 2005.

Bow Tie Partners, headed by Charley and Ben Moss, is a fourth generation family-owned company whose interests are centered in the real estate development and entertainment industries. Affiliate Bow Tie Cinemas owns and operates a circuit of deluxe, intimate, first run cinemas designed to bring style and elegance back to the movie-going experience.

Congratulations on the promotion. I’m a regular patron of your venues in Annapolis MD and have welcomed the new policy of no on screen advertisements. You’ve got one of the better run plexes in the DC Metro area with consistently decent projection and sound since opening in ‘00 or so. Keep up the good job!

Maybe you guys can find a way to buy Clearview, and restore it to its former glory, with qualified UNION projectionists, and people who actually care.

Oh yeah, I forgot. All these big chains run by pencil pushers got rid of all us union guys over the past 20 years. That’s why we now do stage work for a living. ( at least I still get to run movies part-time in a shared union booth.)
