CHARLESTON, SC — AMC is closing three theaters in Charleston.
AMC Entertainment, Inc. announced that their multi-screen theaters at Citadel Mall and Northwoods Mall will close. Both theaters were purchased by AMC Entertainment, Inc. in 2002. Both theaters were built before the trend to Megaplex theaters. Neither theater has ever been significantly remodeled.

HEAD LINE SHOULD READ 2 AMC THEATERS….
but the third one, according to that page, closed three years ago and has nothing to do with AMC.
Isn’t is amazing, first the single screen theatres became useless then the twin and now the six and eight screen theatres are considered antiquated. What a dispsoable society we live in. It's
just interesting.
That sucks….even 10 screeners aren’t doing as well as those with 16 or more screens. Look at what the Empire 25 in Manhattan is doing to other theaters in Manhattan by being the most popular in that borough and the USA.
The 12-screen Assembly Square Cinemas in my city closed more than a year ago, and still sit empty today.
THEATERS ARE CLOSING AT RECORD RATE IT SEEMS,…
These small multiplex theaters that are closing do not seem to be historic or architecturally significant. There is no big loss here. Old and outdated theaters simply do not attract people anymore. Hopefully, a new and better theater will be built in the future. If properly designed and run well, a new theater will attract many more customers than the old theaters.
The closing of two theaters,
It depends on two things, when and if new theaters were built and just how much the lease has gone up on the old theaters, its still a bottoms line business.. Theaters are not closing at a record rate,
new theaters are beening built at a record rate.
look at the main page of ct an see all the theaters closing….
