The Park Layne Drive-In Theatre in Park Layne, Ohio is now closed. Thank your for your patronage. The Park Layne which opened on June 29, 1962 as The Park Layne 69 Drive-In Theatre played its final film in August 2007. It was unclear if Park Layne Drive-In Theatre would return this season, however it sad but true it will not return.

The Park Layne Drive-In Theatre was built by Chakeres Theatres and could hold 600 cars. An odd but favorite fact about the Park Layne Drive-In Theatre is that the projection room is located on the top of the concession stand. Park Layne Drive-In Theatre is also known for a fire that extensively damaged the concession stand on August 21, 1965. The fire was caused by a popcorn popper.

Probably like everything else, the land got expensive, and somebody is going to build condo’s or stores. Why else would it close? Oh, I forgot, everyone wants to see movies in “digital projection” now at the sheetrock multiplex near you.
