Small California town working theater for sale

posted by aoz on January 7, 2008 at 9:51 am

This theater is only 2 years old and needs a new owner. It has a permitted kitchen, large 2-tier stage, beer/wine license, very cool and classy decor, great renter-friendly lease, digital projection and THX surround sound for video. It’s the only real theater within 60 miles.

Selling VERY, VERY cheap because I ran out of money building it and I hate to cook. You can profit from my loss. Closing this month (January).

Live and work where people want to vacation!

Or even better just give me the name and address so I can take over the lease when you leave!

John Messick, I don’t see that I can post a photo on this site. If you send your address, I’ll forward some. The town is Lone Pine, CA, on Hwy 395…to narrow down the potential interest.

If you hate cooking and you can’t afford to hire a part-time cook then the business can’t be working that well. Do yourself a favour; clear out all your equipment at the end of the month and let someone else take the lease. Then your problem will be theirs.

Rivieraservices, equipment and furnishings are worth much more installed where they are as a turn-key business. I will have no problem getting the lease transferred to someone local if I need to liquidate No, the business isn’t doing well under my management or I wouldn’t be willing to take such a large loss. This ad is merely an attempt to encourage people who might be interested in moving to this beautiful location and buy in cheaply to an established theater in a small town with lots of talent. Rather than passing on a problem, I’d like to pass on an opportunity. This is not a good fit for most people in the big theater business. A musical couple or family could make this a good income.

Hi April,

I hope you haven’t closed the doors or sold your theater yet. I’m too busy working to run a theater myself, but I do own the domain name PizzaTheater.com and the variations of it, plus I believe I have enough cash flow and marketing experience that we can turn it around without you having to sell it or lose your ownership. Please contact me at and we can chat. Thanks, Steve S.

I would like to see pictures. I’m a chef and my girlfriend does musical production. We’ve been toying with the idea of doing some kind of dinner theater. Can you email me at with any pictures and details regarding the financials.

Hi April,

How do things stand? Is the theatre still for sale? Haven’t seen anything posted since Sunday. Thank you.

The place has not sold, though a local person may make an offer soon. Thank you all for your comments and interest. This will be my last posting.
