I am a huge fan of the vintage movie going experience. I am looking for photos or digital images of theatre fronts which have been decorated for a particular movie. I am also looking for vintage images showing lobby cards displayed. I am always trying to explain to other collectors how they were used in the past but a picture is worth a thousand words.
Any help is appreciated.

Google up the Lane Brothers Photographic Collection Georgia State University. In a subseries of Movie Premiers there are many photos of Atlanta theaters that I think are advertising their films in the way that you are looking for,
Try photobucket.com, and search CARLTON and THEATRE. You’ll find such a picture. While at photobucket you also might search 42ND STREET, NEW YORK CITY, THEATRES, TIMES SQUARE, & MARQUEES. Lots of theatres in NYC would decorate their fronts as you’re looking for back in the old days.
Try Google imsges and others for good close ups of DeNiro and Cybil Sheperd from “Taxi Driver” at a 42nd Street theater boxoffice with posters and stills close by.
Good luck with this project.
The book “The Incredible History of The Academy Theater” has a photo of Myrna Loy and William Powell as well as the program from the grand opening of the Academy Theater from November 1939. You can order a copy at www.academybook.org or call Mr. Thomas at 310-357-5462
Check out LOEWS GRAND world premier of “Gone with the Wind” in Atlanta,GA.I know there have been no posts since 7/11/07 but what the hell.
