2nd annual Kent Film Festival
KENT, CT — The city of Kent, a small town of just under three thousand which lies on the border of Western Connecticut and New York State – just 30 miles north of Danbury, is gearing up for their 2nd annual Film Festival, March 29 to April 1. Tix range from $12 for a one-day pass to $125 for the “red-carpet” treatment with a real red carpet being utilized for kicks. Fifty films will be presented.
I never knew about the first one, but it’s apparent they are taking advantage of the wealth of actors* who live in this area and on the heels of the recent Bethel Film Festival and CT Film Festival.
Kent native Lynn Redgrave will be presenting a film she starred in, “Annihilation of Fish,” with Margot Kidder and James Earl Jones. Actress Elizabeth Perkins will present a movie as well and there were entries for fledgling filmmakers. Workshops will be aplenty, such as “Working With Actors” by Peter Miner of Columbia University’s School of the Arts, “Cinematography” by DP Julio Macat, “Editing Aesthetics and Techniques” with director Mario Pinzon and “Storyboard Workshop” with storyboard artist and filmmaker Alex Echevarria.
Venues are the Kent Community House, Kent Library and Kent Town Hall.
More info can be found at the film festival website.
*actors in the area, either season or year-round include, Lynn Redgrave, Michael J. Fox, Mia Farrow, Kevin Bacon, Anthony Edwards, Michael Ian Black, Jenna Von Oy, David Letterman, Charles Grodin, Paul Newmann, Joanne Woodward, etc.

I didn’t word it right, but Lynn Redgrave starred with James Earl Jones and Margot Kidder. She isn’t presenting the movie with them.
