Update your email address

posted by Patrick Crowley on May 26, 2006 at 6:50 am

Greetings, Cinema Treasures fans!

Minor request: if you haven’t updated your email address in a while, can you please do so? We’ve been getting a lot of returned email from comment notifications, so I’d like to make sure we have the correct address for everyone.

Editing your email address is easy. Just login to your Cinema Treasures account, then click on the Profile page link at the top of your screen. Once there, enter the new email address and click ‘Update Profile’. That’s it!

Thanks,
Patrick

PS: Worried about privacy? We will never send you spam or sell your email address.

Hey Cinema Lovers!
I recently came across this great website and thought it would be good to share with you. It is called Culture.ca and it features a plethora of information on Canadian cinema and television. The URL is:

http://www.culture.ca/english.jsp

Right now Culture.ca is featuring a showcase about Giant Screen Cinema. This showcase features information on the origins of the Giant screen, Imax films and Canadian cinema in general. If you are interested in cinema you will find this showcase very interesting. You can reach it directly at:

Check it out!

Cheers!

Patrick, is there something wrong with the email notification system? I haven’t gotten comment updates for any theater in over a week, and that is unusual, as I believe comments were amde in theaters where I should be getting these emails.

I know I’ve been having a hard time viewing theaters or posting (especially on weekends). It is extremely bad today.

It’s probably related to the site being sluggish, Bway.

I haven’t received any comments in over a week, either, and I know that theaters that I subscribe to have had comments, but they haven’t arrived in my mail. I checked my profile and my email address is correct, so I wonder what’s up.

Saps, thank goodness it’s not just me. There is definitely something wrong, as “this” thread is the ONLY update emails I get from the site now. And lots of theaters I have commented in have had comments. Something is DEFINITELY wrong with the notification system. I used to get several emails a day from the various theaters. I now get none, like I said it’s just this “news” item I get update emails from. For some reason, the theater email notification system has halted.
The emails are the only way I can keep up with the site, as there’s now way I can possible check randomly all the theaters I posted in to see if someone commented. I hope the problem gets fixed, as I checked my email and it is correct.
It’s a bit ironic that the emails stopped just around when this thread began, so something must be set wrong.

Still no messages in my mailbox; over a week now.

I don’t know what it is, but I am really sorry I don’t get the email update emails anymore. This is the ONLY thread/theater I get update emails from anymore. I did get ONE from the Ridgewood Theater, as that’s the only theater I posted in since this problem began. And many theaters I “subscribe” to have had messages made. I can’t tell which ones anymore though unfortunately, unless I randomly check theaters, which time would prohibit.

I’ve had no problem receiving e-mail notifications. Has everyone checked their e-mail filters/spam-blockers to allow email from this site to be accepted?

If you are using Earthlink (as I am) be sure to go to the ‘WebMail’ page and adjusts the email spam filter settings. Earthlink does a good job of eliminateing spam but sometimes legitimate emails get snagged.

I never had problems getting the emails before, and I get the update email for THIS thread….but that’s it. Apparently some people are still getting them as usual, and others are not anymore.

I don’t, unless I reposted in theaters I wanted emails from. Any theater I posted in (and didn’t repost in) before May 26th or so is dead, and I don’t get email updates from them anymore. I have just given in, and started reposting a message in theaters I want the emails from, but it’s a long process. I don’t know why this happened to me, and a few other people like saps, and not other people. But it definitely stopped working – again, at least for theaters I haven’t posted in after May 25th or so. I do get them for anything I posted in after I found out about this problemm around June 1st.
No idea what happened, and why it happened.
I have a suspision though. I checked saps' email, and it’s a “hotmail” address like mine (that I use for the site) is a “hotmail” address. I have a feeling the site may have thrown out hotmail addresses when they did something to update the site? I don’t know why else it could have happened to me. The only similararity saps and I have (both of us not getting the update emails) is that we use a hotmail address. Otherwise I have no idea why we would not get the emails, but everyone else still does.

Thankfully, at least I am beginning to get them again, at least for the theaters I have reposted in, but it’s a pain to have to go back to each theater just to post a message so I begin getting the email notifications again. The email notifications are really the lifeline of the site, and rely on them to keep current, so I hope they continue to come.
