MEDFORD, NY — Sometime this past week, I don’t know exactly when, Brookhaven Multiplex Cinemas on Long Island was demolished.
I used to work there and have some great memories of that place seeing movies there over the years since I was a kid until they closed in 2003. It’s a shame to it wasn’t very old and I always passed it while riving down the LIE.
Never again.

this theater was in great shape when it closed …always the slowest of multiplex cinemas in ny,bad location..
Actually, National Amusements closed it because they built it’s more modern Holtsville Island 16 down the road which features stadium seating, and all the latest amenities. But you are right, the Brookhaven was a youong theater, and while it could have used some cosmetics, it wasn’t in bad shape at all.
Here’s two photos I took of the theater a year or two ago:

I too had a lot of good times in that theater in it’s short life. I am sorry to see it gone.
I just thought of something! There were all these proposed talks of Walmart being built off of Sunrise Hwy by Hospital Rd a year ago or so but nothing has taken shape….. What they should do is build the Walmart on this site!, where BMC used to be! Its just an empty parking lot growing bushes, weeds and trees right now anyway AND ITS BIG ENOUGH SPACE. I should bring it up to someone from the town
