LOS ANGELES, CA — My quest to aquire the Vogue Theatre in Hollywood has failed! One of the owners, Carol, told me she was not interested in either renting, leasing or selling. There are proposed plans to convert it into another night club -such as they are doing to the Fox Theatre across the road.
Meanwhile, I’m still searching for a southern California moderate size cinema/theater to screen British Films in; independent, art, second run, etc.

Sickening. I hope Carol understands what karma is, because all these people who have purchased these historic theaters and are uninterested in keeping them as such will pay the price – these “trendy” little stupid nightclubs will all ultimately fail because the ADD generation can’t stay put for more than fifteen minutes. Good luck, Carol, and I hope you lose your shirt.
Hello and thanks for your comments. I’m told that the Hollywood nightclub scene is almost on overload… like the saturation point with just about two Starbucks on every block… and yes, I’m sure they’ll die… after ruining the decor of the Vogue and Fox and the teenyboppers move on to another black box! But I’m NOT giving up!

Yes, that is a good idea, will check it out. My friend and theater designer www.josephmusil.com is responsible for the present appearance of the Fine Arts Theatre. He also created Hollywood’s El Capitan, Westwood Village Crest and a lot more theaters. Thanks.
They have an application with the city to put in a supper club that includes “theatrical massage” – how enlightened of them.

I am totally against this Supper Club proposal. It is a kinky fetish club posing as a dinner theater.

Supper Club is an internationally-funded creepfest, with locations throughout the world. They serve dinner “in bed” (or on “banquettes,” according to the owner, have theatrical massage, have full alcohol service, a nightclub atmosphere — and allow in ALL AGES!

The zoning was at first denied. Supper Club appealed.
The L.A. City Planning Department recommended DENIAL of the appeal, but on November 27 at a hearing, the Zoning Appeals Board, who are NOT City employees, granted the appeal but retained jurisdiction and continued it to January 8, 2008.
The Board reserved the right to change its findings and change its mind on January 8.
Part of the “Sell” of Supper Club (and these folks are MASTERs at B.S.‘ing) is that there is NO ONE ELSE WHO wants to buy/ use/ run the Vogue Theater.
Supposedly, Councilman Eric Garcetti is FOR Supper Club. If this is so, it goes along with the rest of the way he runs his district — it is dirty with trash all over the streets, homeless and drug addicts roaming around and sleeping on sidewalks, extremely dangerous street crossings with these ludicrous flashing lights, a goofball proposal to spend multi-millions to build a park over the freeway rather than buying land — (let’s talk about a boondoggle proposal involving a park filled with air pollution — and earthquake and fire danger), and other stuff.
SO at this point, IT MAKES SENSE FOR ANYONE WHO CARES TO PASS THE WORD AND COMPLAIN TO THE LOS ANGELES MAYOR, AND TO ANYONE IN THE MEDIA WHO WILL LISTEN AND CARE.
We in Hollywood NEED things that are uplifting and lovely— not vile, nasty places!
