Hello,
Just completed constructing a new state of the art 8 screen theatre in Paragould, AR. We are anxious to grow our company. Interested in buying or leasing operating theatres in medium to smaller markets; pop: 75,000 – 150,000. Also, if you know of a community in need of a theatre, please let us know. Feel free to write or call anytime:

You should check out the Asheville area. We could use a stadium theater in the area. Asheville has none. Epic opened a great stadium theater in Hendersonville which is about 20 miles from Asheville. Asheville has some terrible theaters. Carmike 10 is one of the worst run theaters in this area. Also, Regal Hollywood 14 is the pits. The screens are so small they don’t even show films in scope. South Asheville near the airport is a new upcoming area and would be a great location ofr a new theater.
Mike,
Thanks for your note. Unfortunately, Asheville probably does not fit our niche. We try not to go into communities with that much competition especially if its from Carmike or Regal. Those are publicy owned companies. No matter how poorly they are operated, they seldom fold their tent and leave a market. That makes it very challenging for a new state of the art facility to get the movies and revenue absolutely needed. Sadly, it seems to be a fact of life. We build or acquire in markets with very limited or no competition. Thanks again, Mike, for your comments.
How about the Shelton, Washington area? There’s a poorly run twin theater there (with sloped floors) that’s over 20 years old now. The same people that run this theater also run the nearby drive-in theater even worse. Only theaters for miles.
Hey Ken,
What’s the population of the Shelton market (25 mile radius)?
William what is your business model? Are you only interested in the presentation of film, or would you consider venues that can offer live entertainment to?
The city of Shelton proper has a growing population of around 10,000. It is located in Mason County and there is probably at least 80,000 in the surrounding radius. Five miles from the theater is the huge “Little Creek” Indian casino that draws big crowds to the area. There is tons of new development on the north side of town near the Super Wal-Mart in Shelton. This area is begging for a new theater.
We have never had live entertainment in our theatres but have certainly not ruled it out. What do you have in mind?
Ken,
Interesting you mentioned a Super Walmart. We always try to locate adjacent or near a Super Walmart. They know the market as well as anyone before building. Will check out Shelton today. Thanks, again.
William:
The Super Wal-Mart started out as a regular Wal-Mart but quickly became so popular they had to expand. It’s located at the north end of Shelton where all the development is going on now. There’s a good spot right next to the freeway with easy access that still hasn’t been developed yet which would be a good spot for a theater. Oh, the Super Wal-Mart is right next to the huge high school. I think a new theater complex here would make you some good money!
Can you go as far as Newington, Connecticut? This town needs a theater, yeah, there are other theaters in the surrounding towns. But this town is bland, I want to see a theater here again. There may be some good locations on the Berlin Turnpike and a few on Cedar and Willard.
Spike,
Can you tell me a bit more about the market?
Well, I thought we had a large population here, but there are 29,306 people in this town. Sorry about that, but West Hartford has 64,225 people.
and West Hartford has a new 5 screen cinema opening there within the next two years. Also, there is a National Amusements multiplex in Berlin, just past Newington. I wish all those old theatres in Newington hadn’t closed in the first place.
