Silent Film Festival at the Lafayette Theatre!

SUFFERN, NY — The SOUNDS OF SILENTS Film Festival comes to the historic Lafayette Theatre in Suffern, New York. Nine silent film programs with LIVE musical accompaniment to be screened April 8-9-10, 2005.

The SOUNDS OF SILENTS Film Festival at the historic Lafayette Theatre in Suffern, New York, presents nine unique and entertaining silent film programs from the golden age of cinema, all on the Lafayette Theatre’s giant silver screen – and all with live musical accompaniment. Screening will be films with stars such as Charlie Chaplin, Lon Chaney, Douglas Fairbanks, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, and Lillian Gish. All of the films are showing in the finest archive prints available and all will feature live musical accompaniment. Selected short subjects will also be a part of several shows. Festival Dates: April 8-9-10, 2005.

Among the musicians playing with the films will be the renowned silent film accompanists Dennis James playing “Robin Hood,” Robert Israel playing “The Thief of Bagdad” and “Grandma’s Boy,” Jeff Barker, John Baratta, and “making his United States debut” Michael Holmes of Great Britain playing “The Italian Straw Hat”.

The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra will be making their East Coast debut on April 8 accompanying “The Cameraman” and “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde”. The Museum of Modern Art’s Ben Model and the American Museum of the Moving Image’s Donald Sosin & Joanna Seaton will accompany selected short subjects with the Saturday and Sunday matinees.

Individual tickets are $10.00 for each show and are available at the Lafayette Theatre Box Office. Money-saving multi-show tickets are also available: Friday Night Passes are $18, Saturday Passes are $36 and Sunday Passes are $27 each. The Full Festival pass is $75.00. The Lafayette Theatre – recently named as one of USA Today’s “10 Great Places to Revel in Cinematic Grandeur” – is a renovated and restored 1000-seat 1924 movie palace. Featuring a large auditorium, superb acoustics, clear sight lines, modern projection equipment, and the Ben Hall Memorial Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ, the Lafayette Theatre is the premiere venue for classic films in the tri-state area.

Paul Warshauer is a liar and a thief. He stole childhood pictures of mine and refuses to return them. Anyone doing business with Paul Warshauer should heed this warning.
