The HORRORTHON comes to the Lafayette Theatre October 22 & 23.

SUFFERN, NY — The HORROR-THON Film Festival at the historic Lafayette Theatre in Suffern, New York presents seven illustrious and entertaining horror movie programs — including several rarely shown titles including HOUSE OF WAX in double-system 3-D — from the golden age of cinema, all on the Lafayette Theatre’s giant silver screen and just in time for Halloween.

Screening will be films with stars such as Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price, and Jack Nicholson and from directors such as Stanley Kubrick, William Friedkin, Terence Fisher, and George Romero. All of the films are screening in the finest studio and archive prints available and each show will feature pre-show music from the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ. 12:45 pm HOUSE OF WAX (1953, directed by Andre de Toth) starring Vincent Price and Phyllis Kirk – Presented in the miracle of double-system polarized 3-D!

3:30 pm SON OF FRANKENSTEIN (1939, directed by Rowland V. Lee) – starring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi

7:15 pm THE EXORCIST (1973, directed by William Friedkin) – starring Max Von Sydow and Linda Blair

10:00 pm “Spooktacular” featuring NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968, directed by George A. Romero) – an incredible recreation of the classic midnight movie experience featuring rare coming attractions, cartoons, film clips, and the original uncut version of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23

12:45 pm THE CAT & THE CANARY (1927, silent, directed by Paul Leni) starring Creighton Hale, with live accompaniment by Jeff Barker on the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ, presented in a newly-restored 35mm print.

3:30 pm THE BRIDES OF DRACULA (1960, directed by Terence Fisher) starring Peter Cushing and David Peel, a Hammer Studios film

7:15 pm THE SHINING (1980, directed by Stanley Kubrick) starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall

Tickets are $8.00 for each show. Money-saving multi-show tickets are also available: Saturday Passes (four shows) are $30 and Sunday Passes (three shows) are $22.50 each. The Full Festival pass (all seven shows) is $50.00. Advance tickets are now on sale at the Lafayette Theatre’s box office during theatre hours, day-of-the-show tickets will go on sale at the box office 30 minutes before each showtime.

The Lafayette Theatre – named one of USA Today’s “10 Great Places to Revel in Cinematic Grandeur” – is a renovated 1000-seat 1924 movie palace. Featuring a large auditorium, superb acoustics, clear sight lines, modern projection equipment, and the Ben Hall Memorial Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ, the Lafayette Theatre is the premiere venue for classic films in the tri-state area.
