Friends of the Raymond Theatre Ask For Assistance
Friends of the Raymond Theatre has issued an urgent appeal that we wanted to share with all of you:
“Dear Friends of the Raymond Theatre:
In the weeks that have transpired since our last newsletter, we have continued to focus on our greatest need to carry this project through to fruition: fundraising.
We are pleased to say that we have had an outpouring of support to continue our efforts to save the Raymond. However, we are still in critical need of donations.
“PROJECT UPDATES:
We anticipate that the City of Pasadena will grant permits to the developer of the Raymond Theatre as early as the end of this month. This means that demolition can begin immediately upon issuance of building permits. As such, we are continuing to work closely with our Attorney and hoping we can raise enough money to continue legal protection of the Raymond Theatre.
We have received an outpouring of support to continue protection of the Raymond Theatre. However, we will be unable to take action unless we are can raise $4,400 immediately. We are therefore extending our request for donations till July 30, 2005. With our supporters help, we hope to reach our goal.
SPECIAL THANKS FOR DONATIONS:
Thanks to the following individuals for helping us raise $600!

$ 800
If you are able to match one the donations listed above, this would mean double the money —– a total of $1,600 – for our July fundraising campaign, and will bring us that much closer to our $5,000 July fundraising goal.
We give our deepest thanks to Hollywood Heritage and Pasadena residents Raymond Dashner and Barbara Dahn for their offer of matching donations.
DONATION UPDATE:
Our goal is to raise $5,000 by July 16th. As stated, we have extend that date to July 30th because of the outpouring of support to continue preservation of the Raymond Theatre. Since our last e-mail we have raised $600 from our supporters.
GOAL WE NEED TO MEET: $5,000
HOW MUCH WE NEED TO RAISE: $4,400
DEADLINE: July 30, 2004

THE RAYMOND COMMITTEE UPDATE:
Our committee members have been quite busy this month. They are working together contacting local businesses, corporations, friends and family members in order to help us reach our target fundraising goal and cover the cost of our legal bills. They are also distributing donation flyers all over the Southland, holding eBay auctions and starting work on fundraisers. We thank our hardworking committee for the daily assistance they give our project.
SEEKING NEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
We feel so lucky to have very dedicated people on our committee, but the more assistance we have, the more we can do to help protect the Raymond Theatre.
Therefore we are seeking to expand our core volunteer committee in order to maximize our effectiveness.
We need reliable people who are willing to volunteer their help.
We need assistance on the following tasks:
Passing out donation flyers throughout the Southland (So Cal)
eBay auctions
Sending out donation e-mails
Help calling local businesses for donations
Organization of our events
Help with daily office work (from your home)
Volunteer Publicist
If you would like to volunteer, please contact us at . Even one hour a week will help move us closer to our goal of saving the theatre.
Thank you for helping us preserve Pasadena’s Historic Raymond Theatre.
Sincerely,
Gina Zamparelli
