PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Friends of the Boyd (Sameric) Holiday Film Screening is “The Philadelphia Story” at International House, 3701 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia on December 5th. The film starts at 8 PM with a 6:30 PM VIP reception with Edmund Bacon.

Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and James Stewart in his Academy Award winning performance star in “The Philadelphia Story,” the 1940 sparkling romantic comedy from MGM nominated for 6 Oscars. All tickets include a party after the movie with food, drink and 1940’s music by DJ Jay Schwartz, better known as Secret Cinema.

Our Special Guest at our pre-film VIP reception is internationally renowned Philadelphia City Planner Edmund Bacon. From 1949 to 1970 BACON led Philadelphia’s Renaissance. Before him, Society Hill was a slum, Independence Hall was hemmed in by buildings, and the “Chinese Wall” divided Center City West. His many accomplishments were the envy of the world.

$15 for movie + party afterwards.
$50 for VIP ticket for whole evening.
Tickets at International House from 6 PM on December 5 or or in advance from www.tlavideo.com/ihouse

Proceeds will be used to restore the Boyd!

[url=/theaters/1209/]The Boyd (Sameric), Philadelphia’s last movie palace, will reopen for musicals, but will not have a film program, authentic art deco restoration, and permanent preservation unless the public helps! The Friends of the Boyd, a non-profit organization, is a vital part of the public-private partnership working to restore the theater. After having presented Philadelphia themed films from the 1920’s and 1930’s, we are proud to present The Philadelphia Story as our 1940s film.
