ASHLAND, KY — According to the Herald Dispatch, the Paramount Arts Center, the long-time tenant of the 1932 art deco Paramount Theatre has now become its owner, with the Foundation for the Tri-State Community transferring the venue’s deed to the group.
The Foundation saved the movie house from demolition in 1972 and in 1990, once the restoration of the theater was complete, the Foundation and Arts Center became two separate groups.
Kathy Timmons, executive director of the Paramount, says “Three decades ago, I don’t think anyone realized how important the Paramount Arts Center would become to the people of the Tri-State.”
