Opened in 1919 for Samuel Shapiro, the 1,362-seat Felton Theatre was located in the Feltonville area of Philadelphia on Rising Sun Avenue near Louden Street. In 1925, the Felton Theatre was remodeled by the firm of Magaziner, Eberhard & Harris. By 1941 it was operated by Warner Bros. Circuit Management Corp.
After the theatre closed, it was used for many years as a warehouse for Sam Eric Theatres, but was reborn in the mid-1990’s as the Felton Supper Club, featuring dining, live acts, and dancing. This was closed in June 2011. By 2015 it had been converted into a church.

The future of the “supper club” operation in the former theater is questionable after nine people were shot in the parking lot last weekend; Philadelphia’s mayor wants to shut it down. Philadelphia Inquirer story here.

When I lived in Philadelphia in 1963-64, I used to go to a theater that showed German-language films. I seem to remember it as being called the Felton Kino. I wonder if this is the place.
