The Michigan Theater was opened December 25, 1924. It was demolished around August 1999, and several single family houses have been built on the site.

Address was 7226 Michigan(at Robert).
Opened Christmas Day, 1924.
During construction Fred Wehrenberg bought the theatre and house was always part of his circuit.
One floor theatre, single screen, stage, capacity 1200.
I grew up a few blocks from this theater and went there every weekend for years. When I was in grade school all of us kids went there every Sunday afternoon for the double feature.
I should also mention that the kids there had necking contests and I won once. They had a soda machine in the lobby that dropped a paper cup down and filled up with soda. For a quarter you could see two movies, get popcorn and a soda. Great memories
From Britton I grew up on Roswell Ave and attended Windsor elementary school. We would go to the Michigan theater in the late ‘50s. For a little kid it was 10 cents for the double feature on Sunday. popcorn was also a dime. We would stop at a confectionery on Holly Hills and buy penny candy and take into the movie. Many fond memories.
Demolition began in August 1999.
