One of Nassau’s premier theaters since it opening with 4-screens on November 16, 1977 with Richard Dreyfuss in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” playing in two screens, Harrison Ford in “Star Wars” presented in 70mm playing in screen 3 and Diane Keaton in “Looking for Mr. Goodbar” in screen 4. Located in a parking lot of the Nassau Mall, although the two were essentially unrelated. The theatre was expanded on June 24, 1983 from 4 to 6 screens. It was increased to 10 screens on December 18, 1992 when the lobby was enlarged. I recall the lobby was fairly large, with video games. Haven’t been there in at least 10 years - I wonder if it’s still as big for the high school and college-age crowds.

Please update, the theatre open November 16, 1977 as a quad. When to six sometime in the 1980 and in the early 1990’s they expanded to 10 screens with a new Lobby area.
This theatre was a premiere showcase theatre when it open. It would get all the exclusive Nassau showing with either the Sunrise Cinemas or Green Acres Theatre as the 2 locations for major openings.
Please correct, Cinema 5 and Cinema 6 open in the summer of 1983
Please add, the expansion to theatres 6 to 10 and the new and present lobby open in 1994.
