The Muskogee Cinema Four took the place of the Muskogee Twin Cinema. The theatre was built behind the Curts Mall, next to a grocery store. The theatre opened in June of 1983 with “Return of the Jedi”, “Porky’s 2: The Next Day”, “Superman 3”, and “Twilight Zone: The Movie”. The theatre was Muskogee’s first multi-plex, it was owned and managed by the Leake family.
The theatre was sold to Carmike Cinemas in late-1986, who later turned the four-plex into a 99 cent discount house and let the nice multi-plex run down. The theatre was reopened in 1994-1995 under the name Fox Cinema 4. The former theater now houses an office building.

I agree with Chuck’s 10-31-04 comment about this name listing.

I really think a theatre should have the previous name and the current name listed. It makes me sick to see Columbia Square Cinemas listed when I spent close to four years there as Columbia 1 and 2 Theatres.ABC THEATRES did not want it to be called a “cinema”,But theatres are sold.I just think the old name is just as important if not more so.The time Columbia Sq.Cinemas came into being it was a lousy dollar house!
I was just giving an example about theatres changing their names.I feel all the names should be listed like HENDERSONVILLE DRIVE-in was Changed to HENDERSONVILLE OUTDOOR CINEMA. That is all.You guys were dicussing the two names of the Fox Cinemas.I felt different.
Chuck 1231. I guess you are right it is just that i have seen theatres open as a twin or a quad and close something entirely different.I guess it messes with my personal History. It is lost.
