The Roseville Theatre opened in 1927 drawing thousands of people to the corner of Utica Road and Gratiot Avenue. It had a long and successful life but when the era of multiscreen multiplexes emerged, the single screen Roseville Theatre struggled and closed in 1996.
Seven years later, John Kurczak, the owner of the building, began restoring the theatre and building. He had the floors leveled, installed new lighting, imnproved wheel chair accessibility and built new restrooms and a concession area. New projection and sound equipment were installed.
He wants to utilize the building when movies are not playing. On Friday and Saturday nights part of the upstairs becomes a dance club for teens. The lower level including the movie theatre can be rented for receptions, conferences and gatherings. It reopened on April 25, 2003 with a smaller screen and a new atmosphere. In 2005 it was operating as a church.

The theater was closed again in 2005 and was purchased by a local church. According to the Pastor, the theater may be open for group activities at a later date.
As “they” say, you can’t believe everything you see on the internet!! That website is old and should probably be removed since the owner is no longer in business at this theater. Here’s some info published last week in our local paper (The Macomb Daily) – it’s presented as an ad, but the paper published an article a few weeks ago about the sale/purchase of the theater.
Looks like it’s a church the last time the Googlemobile passed it by.
As rivest266 has posted, the Roseville Theatre is now a church. The address should be 28325 Utica Road.
