The Rex Theatre was opened on October 29, 1927 with Ben Turpin in “The Clollege Hero”, It was used for movies and vaudeville. The building was destroyed by fire on May 31, 1965. New Jersey Bell Telephone later erected a building on the site. A video production company now occupies the Bell Telephone site.

Launched October 29, 1927 patterned after the Embassy Theater in New York.
May 31, 1965 was the end of the line for the building after a fire gutted it.
