Previously operated by: General Cinema Corp.
Previous Names: Naz 8 Cinemas
This theater opened on December 11, 1987 on the site of the demolished Fox Fremont Theater in the Fremont Hub shopping center. General Cinemas operated it as a theater showing first-run films and its largest auditorium was the first THX-certified auditorium in Southern Alameda County. The theater’s fortunes started declining in late-1998 following the opening of Syufy Theaters Century 25 in nearby Union City. GCC tried showing arthouse fare but had limited success. The theater would close in June 1999.
Several months later, the owner of the Naz Cinema, which showed films from India and surrounding countries, decided to move his operation here and expand. Weekends would often have packed houses. In 2003, Naz Cinemas moved into a smaller multiplex about ¼ mile away and the theater was shuttered.
The theater was demolished in October 2004.
