News About This Theater
- Jan 28, 2010 — Starz Theatre reopens
Opened February 14, 1951, the Regal Theater was “the place” to be and hang out up until the late-1960’s. I recall 25 cent movies, 10 cent popcorn and much better times for the now lonely and dusty west Texas town of Brownfield.
This was one of four theaters owned by the Jones family. Two additional walk-ins were the Rialto Theater and the Rio Theater. They also owned and operated the Rustic Drive-In.
From June 25, 1970 it was twinned. In 2009 it was renamed Starz Theater but had a very short life as a live music venue and was closed in 2012.

A 2001 photo of the Regal Theater. For many years the building on the left was a “Western Auto” store and the one on the right was a photography studio that may have been “Frogges”. Back then you could park your bicycle there on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon and it would still be there after the movie.
does anyone have any new photos of the Regal,, has it gone downhill more
I was just in brownfield this weekend and the regal has reopened as Starz theater. I was born and raised in bfield and saw Billy Jack atleast 10 times at the Regal. Glad to see it re opened and wish the new operators God Speed.
Based on this information, it is now being use as a venue for live music: View link
Name should now be Starz Theater with Regal as an aka and function should also be changed.
Website for this theatre is closed!
2021 closed and abandoned.
