This nicely restored neighborhood theatre came alive again when the Grandview Heights area to the northwest of Columbus, OH. was rejuvenated with upscale bistros, galleries and coffee houses.
The Grandview Theatre originally opened on September 4 1926 with Wallace Beery in “Behind the Front”. It had 561-seats. It closed in the early-1960’s and was an antique store until re-opened in the early-1980’s as a sub-run dollar house. That only lasted a year or so when Drexel Theatres added it to its chain of three restored neighborhood houses.
The Drexel Grandview Theatre was due to be closed September 27, 2008, but was temporarily reprieved. This was very short-lived as the theatre was closed on September 30, 2008.
The theatre came under new ownership in October 2008 and after renovations were completed, it reopened in December 2009. It was closed in December 26, 2015, and reopened May 5, 2016 as the Grand Theater and Drafthouse.

Why did it close?
http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/business/2015/12/28/grandview-theatre-has-closed.html
Reopening on May 5, 2016 as the GRANDVIEW THEATRE AND DRAFTHOUSE. The theatre has new seats, a new screen and a new projector. A 40-tap bar will be available. The theatre is owned by Eric Brembeck, who also owns the Studio 35 Theatre and Drafthouse in north Columbus, OH.
Were the other seats replaced by tables or other furniture?
Lots of tables Ron. New pics uploaded. Also new website www.grandviewtheater.com
Name is misspelled in this listing. They changed Theatre to Theater. Not sure why, since it was Theatre for 90 years.
Thanks for catching the name error, jhnpblc343. The city should also be changed to Grandview, OH instead of Columbus.
A interview with the Grandviews new management to Columbus Monthly confirms 150 seats.
Lots of pics from 2009 here. https://www.ohioexploration.com/structures/grandviewtheatre/
The Grandview Theater & Drafthouse website is https://www.grandviewtheater.com. The “About” tab on their website says they now “offer two movie screens”.
