The Las Vegas Opera House is a short-lived entertainment venue that operated from its opening on February 12, 1908, until it was destroyed by a fire on May 26, 1912. After the original opera house was destroyed, operations were relocated nearby to a newer theater called the Majestic Theatre.
The opera house site was rebuilt that same year as the Beckley Building but did have a history before the site became the famous Pioneer Club on April 10, 1942. The original Beckley Building is a 2-floor building that did suffer destruction from a fire two years later in 1914, followed by another rebuild with the ground floor housing Beckley’s Men Shop, a men’s clothing store operated by Will Beckley who purchased the building from M. C. Thomas for $12,500 during rebuild. Despite being renovated in 1929, the Beckley Building closed on January 12, 1942.
