The Isis Theatre was the first movie theater built in Las Vegas, opening in 1909. Strangely, the original operators left town for unknown reasons, leaving only the owner of the projector to operate the theater. In August 1910, it was reported that the land under the theater was needed by its owner to complete construction of a hotel.
The Isis Theatre continued to operate until early 1911 when it was closed. It was demolished by the end of the year. Final operator William Squires moved the film operation into the Las Vegas Opera House, which later became the Majestic Theatre.
