The Translux Inflight Blue and Gold Theatres (often referred to simply as the Blue and Gold) was a prominent twin-screen movie theater located in the Daytona Beach area during the 1970’s. It opened on February 17, 1972. On December 20, 1974, the venue was officially taken over by ABC Florida State Theatres. Following this acquisition, the theatre was rebranded and renamed the Mall 1 and 2. As the local commercial footprint shifted, the venue adapted with its geography. In 1979, the Mall 2 location transitioned to become the Sunshine Mall 1 and 2 in South Daytona Beach, marking the final evolution of the original twin-theatre setup from its 1970’s format. On March 2, 1984 it becamed the Plitt 1 & 2. It remained that way when it was taken over by Cineplex-Odeon in 1986. It was closed in 1990.
