Built on the site of the King George Theatre (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The National Theatre was opened in 1918 located in the city centre. It was later given an Art Deco style makeover and by 1950 it had been renamed Century Theatre and was operated by the Amalgamated Theatres circuit. It was still open in 1960.
It has been converted into retail use as a Farmers department store.
