The Fairy Theatre was a small commonly owned set of theatres in the Heart of Illinois in the 1920’s with Frances Ting as the organist. The Fairy Theatre found new owners and sound in the 1930’s competing against the Paramount Theatre successfully in Granville.
In 1937, it received a major Streamline Moderne style upgrade and name change to the Granada Theatre. In the television age, it became the Granville Theatre and converted to widescreen to present CinemaScope titles. Locals say the theatre went out of business in the early-1970’s operating on weekends only which would be outstanding for a town that had just 1,200 residents.
