The Dalzell Opera House was a downtown structure that began as a live stage venue. It transitioned to full time movie theater under the Marchesi Brothers circuit. Mrs. Dominic Valle and Joe Marchesi were the new operators in November of 1927 changing names to the Dalzell Theatre. It appears that they were unable to make a successful transition to sound films with the theatre closing in 1930.
If newspaper accounts are correct, Harold Mowell did briefly reopen the venue in the mid-1930’s with sound. However, he closed moving to the Casey Theatre in Iowa in 1936.
