The Village Square Theatre opened its doors as a second-run movie theater on January 4, 1979 with “Wilderness Family Part 2” starring Robert F. Logan.
This was short-lived, and the theatre closed as a movie theatre on September 4, 1986 with “The Karate Kid Part II” and “Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part II” when the Lexington County Arts Association purchased the former theatre and was both converted into a performing arts house and reopened in 1987.
