The first building in the Valley Forge Shopping Center on the outskirts of Washington, Illinois was another in the chain of National General cinemas. These were a mixture of O&O and franchised cinemas in the suburban luxury era of movie exhibition. They were automated promising one button control and easy profits. Ronald Razowsky formed Davron Entertainment as the franchisee of this location - the Valley Forge Cinema.
The National General stock designs came in one- and two-screen versions based on size of market and with 6,790 folks, Davron went single screen with 310 seats. It appears to have opened June 21, 1973 with “The Poseidon Adventure.” The operators also had the National General Morton Cinema in nearby Morton, Illinois.
Listings for the venue were discontinued after the March 26, 1994 screening of “Grumpy Old Men.” It was retrofitted for Russell’s Cycling & Fitness Center in 1995 which has dutifully used the Wagner Co. lettering on the venue’s attractor into the 2020s. That’s continuity.
