Gem Theatre

This early theater had a very brief existence. It was located in an old three story brick building constructed sometime between 1886 and 1890.

The theater does not appear on either the 1912 (tailor) or 1920 (shoe repair) maps, but was listed at this address in the 1914-15 AMPD.

This section of the block was demolished around 1929 for the construction of the Arkansas City Office Building, an art deco ‘tower’ which has been vacant for many years.
