Located in the east Berlin district of Kreuzberg at the corner of Schlesische Strasse & Cuvrystrasse near to the Schlesische Tower. The entrance today is around the corner at Cuvrystrasse 7. The Lido Lichtspiele was built and opened in summer of 1951. It was closed as a cinema in 1964, mainly due to a loss of business when the Berlin Wall was built in 1961.

Since then it has been in use as a rock music discotheque, a rehearsal space for the Schaubuhne and since 2006 Lido Berlin, a live music and concerts venue for rock, indie, electro & pop music.
