Located in Boulogne-sur-Mer to the west of Calais. The Kursaal was one of the earliest cinema to open in this coastal port town. It opened in 1911. It was a large cinema and over the years it hosted concerts by Johnny Halliday in 1961, and also hosted boxing matches on its stage. With the threat of Television in the 1970’s, the Kursaal was loosing patrons and went over to screening adult films. “Deep Throat” was especially popular.
The Kursaal was closed in the summer of 1985 and was demolished. A building containing retail now stands on the site and has over the years been occupied by Eurodif, Kiabi, Zara and currently in 2026 a discount store named Normal.
