Palace of Amusement

This small theater was located in a wooden auditorium tacked onto the rear of a two story brick building, which held a bowling alley.

The theater appears on the 1912 map, and is listed in the 1914-15 AMPD on Hanover Street (the old name for the eastern section of King Street). It is listed in the Yearbooks through 1928 simply as ‘Palace’. It appears to have closed before 1929, as it is not listed in the Yearbook, and the Sanborn does not show the auditorium.

The building has been very badly butchered, and it’s hard to tell how old it was. It is home to an antique store.
