Lyric Theatre

This theatre is shown on the 1914 map. It was located in the central storefront of the Palace Block, an ornate brick and stone commercial block of three stories, constructed in 1887. Although it is not listed in the 1914-15 AMPD, it definitely operated into at least 1915, according to advertisements.

The theatre is not listed in the 1926 Yearbook, although it may have changed names. It was definitely closed by 1935, when the map shows a store here.

This entire neighborhood was butchered during urban ‘renewal’. The Palace Block was demolished in 1972, and the block is a desolate expanse of parking with some fast food.
