This large auditorium was constructed in 1922. It was used for civic events, performances, dances, etc. The building was a two store structure, vaguely Mission style, with a large stage at the rear.
Movies were probably offered from the beginning, but definitely by 1926, when this venue is listed in the Yearbook. The theater apparently ceased film offerings around 1934 or 1935. It may possibly have been known as the Oriental Theater in its final year, before that name moved to a much smaller theater on the square (alternatively, the 1935 Yearbook has the new theater listed with the wrong capacity).
This was demolished many years ago. The site is mostly a vacant lot with a swaybacked garage at the rear that might date to around 1950.
