According to an article in the nearby Sunland Chronicle, the Sunland Theatre opened on March 1, 1947 with the Cornel Wilde film “A Song to Remember”. It seated 357 in its sloped viewing area.

In the late-1950’s, manager Eddie Jette held monthly “Sunland Soirees” featuring art films and extra pomp and excitement. The Sunland Theatre closed by the early-1970’s. The building has gone through several businesses since then, and is currently a clothing store.

This indeed closed during the early-1970s, the latest advertisement that I can find is from January 1972 but I can’t confirm if they closed that month or not.
