Nuremberg’s own drive-in theatre known as the Drive-In Cinema Nuremberg was designed by Nuremberg architect Georg Gerhard, commissioned by the Düsseldorf-based “Decla-Autokino-GmbH”, and opened its gates on May 7, 1969 with Frank Sinatra in “Lady In Cement”.

The drive-in itself was built on a 60,000-square-meter site at Marienberg, costing more than $896,400 in United States money, boasted a screen measuring 49x118ft, and housed a capacity of 1,111 cars on 14 ramps. It was operated by Jann-Werbe, via the Film Production GmbH chain as translated in English.

After more than three decades, the Drive-In Cinema Nuremberg closed for the final time on December 31, 2002 with “The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers”, followed by a New Year’s celebration after showing, which the arrival of 2003 completely ended the theater’s life.
